We are going on a mission to Tanzania, Africa for an Eyeglass Clinic.  We will serve in the small village of Mbuguni about an hour and a half from the city of Arusha.

We will be serving in a school supported by the “Next Life Foundation”. (see https://nextlifefound.org/)

From the Next Life Foundation website:  “Next Life Foundation seeks to serve the young men, women, and mamas of Mbuguni, Tanzania, East Africa, through the opportunity for vocational education in their village. These villagers face limited employment opportunities resulting in sub-standard living conditions and a life of poverty. Through the creation of a vocational training center, these young people find new hope for a better future through job prospects created through learned vocational skills.”

In addition to these challenges, this area in Africa has not had a notable amount of rain in over two years.  That means there have not been any crops to harvest for a very long time.  The whole region is very dry.  To compound the problem Tanzania has always imported significant foodstuffs from Ukraine which is no longer occurring.

To help, in addition to eyeglasses, as part of our clinic we will be providing much needed food to the village. Everyone who attends the clinic will get a meal. The cost of the food is provided by two churches St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hamburg and Trinity Lutheran in Pinckney; as well as two other individuals. (we so are blessed and thankful for them!!!!)

We thank you for your prayers for our trip, our service, and ministries here in Mbuguni.

Asante sana ("Thank you very much" in Swahili)
